Application Process

Fill out a LL Housing Authority Job Application or update an already submitted application. The application must be submitted before the closing date to be considered for the position. Aptitude Exam may be required as part of the interview process.

 

Applicants will be judged based on a five point system, the points are as follows:

  • Application - legibility, completion, accuracy, employment history, signature
  • Aptitude Exam - total score on exam
  • Housing Authority Employment History - points based on past employment history with LLHA
  • Native American Preference - points based on Tribal enrollment
  • U.S. Veteran Status - points based on veteran status

INSPECTOR

The Leech Lake Housing Authority is currently seeking individual with Housing Inspection experience. This position is a full-time position. This position requires a highly motivated individual with knowledge of all residential housing related areas including but not limited to: carpentry (roofing, drywall, flooring, masonry, etc.) electrical, heating and plumbing.

Description: Conducts Inspections of LLHA stock (Low Rent units, Tax Credit units, Mutual Help, Homeownership, Acquisition units and any others as needed) in a timely manner in accordance with LLHA policy. Conducts inspections of work standards and quality by crews and/or contractors working on LLHA projects/units as needed. Submits inspections and recommendations for necessary renovations needed to provide safe and sanitary housing for all LLHA stock.

Qualifications: Residential Building Inspector Certification preferred or minimum five years residential building experience. Must have knowledge of green building standards. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. unassisted. Must be physically able to perform all functions of an inspection including but not limited to: climbing up on roofs, entering crawl spaces and attics. Experience with mold remediation preferred. Must have good organizational and communication, skills. Experience in MS Office computer software systems is a must. A valid MN Driver’s License is required and must be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management Driver/Motor Vehicle Record Criteria or must obtain within the 90-day probationary period.

Wage: $20.00 Hour / DOQ after 90 day-probationary period

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Housing Authority is currently seeking one highly motivated individual with experience in furnace, appliance, masonry, minor electrical, septic repair, minor plumbing and carpentry. Secondary certification(s) in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry or electrical preferred. This position is a regular full-time position.

Description: Provides electrical, plumbing, heating and other repairs or replacements, and/or emergency repairs/replacements to all LL Housing Authority units and properties as needed. Must be available to be on-call 24 hours a day (weekends included) for emergency calls, etc. as assigned.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Secondary Certification(s) preferred. Minimum three years combined experience working in the following areas: furnace, appliance, masonry, electrical, septic, plumbing and/or carpentry. Must have the ability to speak with tenants in a professional manner. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds unassisted, utilizing safe lifting techniques. Must be able to work in adverse conditions (dusty, dirty, wet, extremely cold, extremely hot, etc.) Must have the ability to crawl, stand, sit and reach repetitiously. A valid, Minnesota Driver’s License is required and be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management criteria or must obtain within 90-day probationary period.

Wage: $18.61 Hour / DOQ after 90-day probationary period

WINDOW TECHNICIAN

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Housing Authority is currently seeking one highly motivated individual with experience in window treatments such as replacement and repairs to Windows and Screens. Replaces door locks and keep key record for all keys
distributed to and returned by staff. This position is a full-time position.

Description: Provides window, screen and lock maintenance to all units and buildings of the Leech Lake Housing Authority. Measures and orders glass for windows – replaces and re-installs. Measures and makes repairs to screens and re-installs. Replaces or fixes exterior and deadbolt locks in units as needed. Establishes and maintains a system for all units to identify all windows, doors and sizes for efficiency purposes. Keeps record of all keys distributed to staff.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Secondary Certification(s) preferred. Minimum three years combined experience working in the following areas: Window, Screens and Locks. CARPENTER

The Leech Lake Housing Authority is currently seeking individuals with Carpentry experience. This is a full-time position, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. These positions require reliable, punctual individuals that are willing and able to be at work every day. Must have reliable transportation to travel to various job sites throughout the reservation.

Description: Performs all aspects of construction, to include new construction, renovation and repairing of existing housing units for eligible tenants on the Leech Lake Reservation. A valid MN Driver’s License and insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management Driver/Motor Vehicle Record Criteria preferred.

Qualifications: High school diploma preferred or equivalent. Carpentry Certificate preferred or previous construction experience required. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. unassisted.

Wage: $17.32 Hour / DOQ after 90-day probationary period

CREW LEADER

The Leech Lake Housing Authority is seeking and individual with extensive Carpentry and Supervisory experience to perform skilled and semi-skilled carpentry tasks. This position requires a reliable, punctual individual with excellent leadership skills. This is a full-time position, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Description: Supervises a crew of carpenters to assure timely, safe performance and quality control of projects. Directs and performs all aspects of renovation and carpentry repairs assigned for renovation and repairing of existing housing for eligible tenants on the Leech Lake Reservation, may include new construction. Responsible for obtaining needed equipment to complete assigned tasks. Communicates with staff to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Performs administrative duties including timecards and the evaluation of crew in accordance with policy. A valid MN Driver’s License is required and be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management Driver/Motor Vehicle Record Criteria or must obtain within 90-day probationary period.

Qualifications: High school diploma preferred or equivalent. Carpentry Certificate preferred or minimum five years construction experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. unassisted.

WAREHOUSE LABORER

The Leech Lake Authority is currently seeking one highly motivated individual with Warehouse experience. This position requires a reliable, organized, punctual, attention to detail individual.

Description: Assists in the delivery and pick-up, ordering, inventorying of materials, small tools and equipment owned by the Leech Lake Housing Authority contained within the Warehouse Department.

Qualifications: Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of construction, inventory related field in material handling and delivery. Experience and ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.) preferred. Must have the ability to lift and carry, unassisted up to 85lbs. utilizing safe lifting techniques. Experience in MS Office computer software is required. Must have the ability to crawl, stand, sit and reach repetitiously.

A valid, Minnesota Driver’s License is required and be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management criteria or must obtain within 90-day probationary period.
