Application Process

Fill out a LL Housing Authority Job Application or update an already submitted application. The application must be submitted before the closing date to be considered for the position. Aptitude Exam may be required as part of the interview process.

 

Applicants will be judged based on a five point system, the points are as follows:

  • Application - legibility, completion, accuracy, employment history, signature
  • Aptitude Exam - total score on exam
  • Housing Authority Employment History - points based on past employment history with LLHA
  • Native American Preference - points based on Tribal enrollment
  • U.S. Veteran Status - points based on veteran status

Maintenance Technician

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Housing Authority is currently seeking one initiative-taking individual with experience in furnace, appliance, masonry, minor electrical, septic repair, minor plumbing, and carpentry. Secondary certification(s) in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry or electrical preferred. This position is a regular full-time position.

Description: Provides electrical, plumbing, heating and other repairs or replacements, and/or emergency repairs/replacements to all LL Housing Authority units and properties as needed. Must be available to be on-call 24 hours a day (weekends included) for emergency calls, etc. as assigned.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Secondary Certification(s) preferred. Minimum three years combined experience working in the following areas: furnace, appliance, masonry, electrical, septic, plumbing and/or carpentry. Must have the ability to speak with tenants in a professional manner. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds unassisted, utilizing safe lifting techniques. Must be able to work in adverse conditions (dusty, dirty, wet, extremely cold, extremely hot, etc.) Must have the ability to crawl, stand, sit, and reach repetitiously. A valid Minnesota Driver’s License is required and be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management criteria or must obtain within 90-day probationary period.

Wage: $18.61 Hour / DOQ after 90-day probationary period ($18.61 – $31.86)

Carpenter

The Leech Lake Housing Authority is currently seeking individuals with Carpentry experience. This is a full-time position, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. These positions require reliable, punctual individuals that are willing and able to be at work every day. Must have reliable transportation to travel to various job sites throughout the reservation.

Description: Performs all aspects of construction, including new construction, renovation and repairing of existing housing units for eligible tenants on the Leech Lake Reservation.

Qualifications: High school diploma preferred or equivalent. Carpentry Certificate preferred or previous three years construction experience preferred. Tenant Advocate

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Housing Authority is currently seeking one initiative taking individual with public/human relations and administrative experience. This position is a regular full-time position.

Description: Advocates and assists tenants/homebuyers to maintain compliance with all applicable policies and regulations. Must make home visits and be able to collaborate with tenants by providing training and referrals, as necessary. Case Manages tenants on Corrective Action Plans by monitoring progress. Coordinates, plans, organizes, and manages functions related to providing services to tenants.

Qualifications: AA Degree in Human Services required, high school diploma or equivalent will be considered with minimum three years related experience in Housing or Human Services. Knowledge of the LLHA, LLBO and area programs, services and resources preferred. Must have compassion, empathy, and a desire to assist and motivate people when necessary. Knowledge and experience of standard office equipment. Experience in MS Office computer software systems is a must. A valid MN Driver’s License is required and must be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management Driver/Motor Vehicle Record Criteria.

FInance Assistant II

The Leech Lake Housing Authority is currently seeking one highly motivated individual with experience in accounting. Computer, organizational, attention to detail and people skills are a must. Previous office experience preferred. This position is a 32 hour (4 days/week) full-time position.

Description: Responsible for processing all aspects of Payroll (timecards, personal leave, deductions, taxes etc.) Responsible for cell phone management (loading, distributing, problem solving), all finance department filing, other general office duties and back-up for Accounts Receivable. Responsible for travel (arrangements for staff travel and tracking close-outs).

Assist Human Resources department with various functions including but not limited to filing, maintaining various spreadsheets, employee benefits and functions.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in accounting preferred or equivalent experience in bookkeeping/accounting. Must be dependable and reliable and must adhere to all confidentiality policies of the LLHA. Must possess a high level of integrity and work ethics. Good budgetary control skills are required. Knowledge of QuickBooks software preferred. Subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Wage: $16.12/Hr. Full Time (32 hours per week)/ DOQ after 90-day probationary period
