The Leech Lake Housing Authority is seeking and individual with extensive Carpentry and Supervisory experience to perform skilled and semi-skilled carpentry tasks. This position requires a reliable, punctual individual with excellent leadership skills.  This is a full time position, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.

 

CREW LEADER

 

Description: Supervises a crew of carpenters to assure timely, safe performance and quality control of projects. Directs and performs all aspects of renovation and carpentry repairs assigned for renovation and repairing of existing housing for eligible tenants on the Leech Lake Reservation, may include new construction.  Responsible for obtaining needed equipment to complete assigned tasks.   Communicates with staff to establish and maintain effective working relationships.  Performs administrative duties including timecards and the evaluation of crew in accordance with policy.  A valid MN Driver’s License is required and be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management Driver/Motor Vehicle Record Criteria.

 

Qualifications: High school diploma preferred or equivalent. Carpentry Certificate preferred or minimum five years construction experience. Supervisory experience preferred.  Must have ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. unassisted.

 

Wage:  $16.00/hour

CARPENTER

 

Description: Performs all aspects of construction, to include new construction, renovation and repairing of existing housing for eligible tenants on the Leech Lake Reservation. A valid MN Driver’s License is required or must be able to obtain within 90 days and be insurable per the LLBO Fleet Management Driver/Motor Vehicle Record Criteria.

 

Qualifications: High school diploma preferred or equivalent. Carpentry Certificate preferred or minimum three years construction experience. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. unassisted.

 

Wage:  $12.00/hour   Upon successful completion of 90 day probationary period and meeting the Driver’s License requirements including insurability, the rate of pay will increase to $14.00/hour with retro pay back to hire date.  Benefits:  (upon eligibility) Health/Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Retirement, Personal Leave

  2. Aptitude Exam - total score on exam
  3. Housing Authority Employment History - points based on past employment history with LLHA
  4. Native American Preference - points based on Tribal enrollment
  5. U.S. Veteran Status - points based on veteran status
